Shuttle Run

Description:

If you played basketball growing up, this was the running exercise involving the lines on the court you probably loathed. It is also called suicides. Hopefully we can make it a little more enjoyable for the kids!

Setup:

6 cones laid out in a line. The older the kids, the further apart the cones are.

K-1st kids the cones will be about 3 large paces apart, 2-3rd will be 4 paces, 4-5th-about 5 paces.

Rules:

  • The kids will line up in line with the first cone. Have them stand 2 arm lengths apart from each other. The hardest part is getting the kids to hold the same position while they run back and forth to the cones.
  • When you say go, the kids will run to the imaginary line running horizontally from the first cone. They will touch it with their foot and run back to their starting point. Then they run to the next cone and run back to the starting point and so on until they have touched all of the cones.
